The #CrazyFrogMoment of #AI?

The #CrazyFrogMoment of #AI?
Do you remember the ringtone "business"? Does that cause you pain?

I truly believe that we can add value to society by applying #AI in our processes and the things we do "in general". What struck me this week though was the statement of an entrepreneur who explained that he founded a company to create #AI-powered applications "à go-go". AI to create funny images (exists already), AI to create funny sounds (exists already) and AI to create animated avatars (we've seen that). And the best: AI to create those applications. To me, that sounded very much like popping up the lid of Pandora's box and seeing the crazy frog hop out of it.

I am sure that this "business model" will be(come) popular and that we will see #AI-generated #AI-Apps flooding the app stores. And just like E-Mail-Spam, the cost of goods "sold" will be so ridiculously low that the few people who subscribe, buy, or look at the ads will make the business case work. Be aware of the crazy frog.

While I might not look forward to the results of this process, the line of thought that AI creates (AI-) applications puts proof to another point:

AI itself will likely be the last invention created (fully) by humans. I found this statement of Zack Kass very interesting. Zack related that to recent results in medical research, with would not have been so fast without the use of AI. While medical research with the huge amounts of data is an easy target for AI, the use and application will make the tools ready for application in fields with smaller datasets and different applications.

So if you hear of great results with AI in research which is far away from you, look into the rear view mirror. Those were added to race cars, first, in 1911, long before they became common and even mandatory in normal traffic.

AI will become fixed part of research, inspiration and testing all along the way of bringing innovation into our world. AI tools will create proposals, evaluate them, refine them, make them better. Eventually, AI will go all the way to develop applications or products, starting off with an idea - which might be generated by AI, as well. Not only can this superpower creative teams, it can lower the cost of creating solutions significantly, while making the process faster at the same time.

As a consequence, I would not use AI blindly "everywhere" and for "everything", but think about how AI could help you to get ideas faster into prototypes or even develop them?

And beware of the crazy frog.
