30 Years ago..

More than 30 years ago I stepped into a computer store in Lüneburg and asked the guys if they would not like to create an internet service provider together.

For professional reasons I did not want to appear in the public at the beginning, so the story was only about three founders. Something which I've seen happening with other startups as well, by the way.

Nonetheless, we kicked this company off, used the existing customer base of the computer store as a foundation for our go to market and took around three years to become cash flow positive.

I'm still proud of what we did, as at that time, internet was not yet a commodity - we had to explain, what this "internet" was and why it's worth spending money for.

There are many more stories to tell about this, and some bitter ones as well. Looking back at our mistakes is however not making me sad - the contrary is the case.

First, I would not be where I am without those mistakes.

Second, looking at the startup ecosystem we have today in Switzerland, I'm glad that founders get (free!) support and consulting through Innosuisse and their partners, helping them to define their path and laying a foundation for growth.

Being a partner in this journey is a very fulfilling experience and seeing the success and growth of entrepreneurs is a motive which drives me in every interaction 😄
